On October 7, 2022, my family and I were displaced from northern Gaza to the south, leaving everything we owned behind. We left our homes, our clothes, our important papers, everything. We walked long distances and went to the Nuseirat camp. We didn’t find a safe place other than the school, but we didn’t find safety, and there was no alternative. We stayed there for four months of suffering and exhaustion. We didn’t find water, food, or medicine, and we suffered from the extreme cold. After the heavy shelling in Nuseirat, my family and I were displaced to Rafah city in a tent. We spent very difficult days. We wished for death a lot. We searched for food and found it with difficulty, and diseases ate away at our bodies due to malnutrition and the lack of food. After that, we were displaced to the Mawasi area of Khan Yunis on the beach. The suffering was immense in the intense summer heat. We also suffered greatly from the scarcity of water and the difficulty of living in a small tent. After that, we were displaced to the city of Asdaa, near Hamad City. The suffering was the same, and the conditions were difficult. We were unable to live there. This place. We were then displaced to the city of Deir al-Balah. We were suffering the same suffering: heavy bombing, closed crossings, scarcity of food, medicine, and water, and extremely high prices. But charitable people were helping us. After that, thank God, we were granted permission to return to northern Gaza. My family and I walked, leaving everything in the south due to a lack of money to transport us and my family by car. Transportation was very expensive, and we couldn’t afford it.
Here came the shock. Everything in Gaza was destroyed. When we headed home, it was a huge shock. The house was completely burned and unlivable. Everything in the house was destroyed. We headed to my parents’ house so we could live in one room. We were unable to repair the house due to a lack of building materials and a lack of money to repair it. I hope that charitable people will help my family and I repair the house so we can live in it.
